We are all about strengthening our community. Comma-Q Architecture along with Crosscut Mountain Sports Center want to toss out an audacious idea that fits Bozeman like a (ski) glove. Crosscut wants to create a year-round recreational center in Bridger Canyon that is a premier Nordic training facility, and provides a community gathering place for local outdoor enthusiasts seeking skiing, hiking, and other year-round recreational opportunities. Proximity to world-class outdoor recreation makes our community incredibly special; plus it keeps us happy and healthy!
Comma-Q developed the lodge concept by listening to the Crosscut team describe moments they envisioned as part of the overall project. These moments were described as interactions between us, our families, and our community. In reflection of their story, we developed a concept for a place where social interactions occur through the bridging of interior and exterior activity, familiar construction materials exist and mature with the surrounding site, and the wildly rugged beauty of the landscape and its history are underlined by the lodge and its surrounding activity. The Crosscut Lodge is a place designed to create memories by molding community with the outdoors.
Crosscut is the home training venue for the U.S. Paralympic Nordic and Biathlon Team, Montana State University Bobcats, and local Olympians. They also partner with a number of local groups, including Eaglemount, Earthtone Outside, Big Sky Youth Empowerment, and Bozeman Youth Cycling to ensure access to the outdoors remains accessible to everyone in our community.
