The combination of structures found on this unique property east of Bozeman create a welcoming and inspiring compound. Having grown up on a Northern Montana wheat farm, the artist in residence has repurposed pieces of family history by using custom fabricated shingles on the studio’s exterior. Old grain bin doors, panels from the cabs of old combines, even a discarded mailbox were repurposed into the exterior skin of the building. The Greenhouse is constructed almost entirely of recycled materials and uses the same shingle cladding technique as the Studio. These details not only enhance the eclectic nature of this complex but demonstrate an environmentally conscientious approach to building.
