BYEP is Growing Strong
Comma-Q likes to work on meaningful projects that have a positive and lasting impact on our community. When we get the opportunity to work on projects with really amazing people it is a win-win. Consequently, Comma-Q’s current project which involves a comprehensive renovation and expansion of Big Sky Youth Empowerment’s Headquarters can be called a complete victory in our eyes. Construction will begin in September on this exciting new chapter for BYEP. The expansion will triple the size of BYEP’s operations and provide much needed upgrades to their existing space. The expansion will grow their operations to six classrooms, a tutoring center and a community room which will allow them the opportunity to expand and strengthen their programs, which in turn empowers more teenagers in our community.
Founded in 2001 by Pete MacFadyen, BYEP has been serving at-risk youth in Gallatin and Park counties for almost 20 years. The program uses outdoor recreation opportunities, that these teens might not otherwise have, as well as community service to teach teamwork, trust, communication, conflict resolution and community stewardship. BYEP has been extremely successful in filling an essential niche in supporting teenagers in the Gallatin Valley.
Our community is so thankful for this important program that supports kids and shows them the power of making better choices in their lives. BYEP’s growth is an indicator of the effectiveness of their program, as well as the incredible outpouring of support by the community. BYEP will be hosting their annual Spring Run Off Fundraiser tonight which will celebrate their past and help build their future. Founder, Pete MacFadyen will be passing the torch to a new Executive Director so it will be an opportunity to celebrate his incredible legacy and help ensure BYEP’s continued success. Comma-Q Architecture is proud to be contributing to this next exciting chapter.
