Beautiful Destruction
There are a lot of great things about the HBO series Treme, but one exceptional aspect of the show is the opening credits. Post-Katrina destruction and deterioration take on an abstract beauty as perversely pleasing images of mold blooms and high water lines flash by. Designer Karen Thorsen’s opening credits for Treme recently served as inspiration when Comma-Q visited the Historic Borden’s Hotel in Whitehall, Montana. Borden’s has fallen on hard times recently, but its future looks brighter as the Jefferson Local Development Corporation looks at renovation potential for this community keystone.
